Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar will meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday and hold a bilateral meeting.
This will be a face-to-face meeting of Rubio and Jaishankar after the US imposed an additional 25 percent additional fee on India for the purchase of oil from Russia.
According to the daily program released by the US Foreign Ministry on Sunday, Rubio will hold a bilateral meeting with Jaishankar in New York on Monday morning. Both met earlier during a meeting of quad foreign ministers in Washington in July.
This bilateral meeting is taking place on a day when talks are also going to be held between India and America to finalize the trade agreement. A delegation led by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will meet the US side in New York on Monday.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement, “The delegation aims to carry forward the discussion to conclude quickly on mutually beneficial trade agreement.” External Affairs Minister Jaishankar arrived in New York on Sunday to attend the high -level session of the United Nations General Assembly.
