Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney described Donald Trump as a “transformational president” and credited him for bringing “peace” between India and Pakistan. Speaking during bilateral talks at the White House, the Canadian leader credited Trump to influence global affairs and economic stability. On shaking Trump’s head at the oval office, Carney said, “You (Donald Trump) hosted me and some of my colleagues a few months ago, and I said at that time that you are a transformative President.”
Canadian Prime Minister praises Trump for Indo-Pak peace
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Tuesday appreciated US President Donald Trump for bringing peace between India and Pakistan and called the US leader a change as President. During a bilateral talks with Trump at the Oval Office, Carney said, “You are the President to bring change … changes in the economy, unprecedented commitment to the defense expenditure of NATO partners, efforts towards peace from India and Pakistan to Azerbaijan and Armenia, and weakening Iran as the power of terror, it has been possible under your leadership.
Carney, who was elected Prime Minister in April, came to the White House in May this year. Trump has reiterated about 50 times that he has helped to stop tension between India and Pakistan. India, however, has dismissed the role of a third party in postponing military action with Pakistan.
Trump says Tariff helped avoid global conflicts
In a separate address on Monday, Trump took credit for the use of tariffs to prevent global wars, including the war between India and Pakistan. He argued that the trade influence of the United States has established it as a “peace loving” nation.
Trump said, “If I did not have the power to apply tariffs, at least four out of seven wars would have witnessed.” “If you look at India and Pakistan, they were ready for it. Seven aircraft were killed … I do not want to tell what I said, but what I said was very effective.”

Since May 10, when Trump reiterated that India and Pakistan have allegedly agreed to “full and immediate” ceasefire after discussing the “long night” of Washington’s mediation, since then they have repeated the claim about 50 times, and claimed that their diplomatic efforts have helped to “solve” tension between the two atomic-skilled neighbors.
However, India has strongly rejected the suggestion of arbitration of any third party. The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) has repeatedly stated that the consensus on ceasefire was directly formed between the Director General of Military Campaign (DGMO) of India and Pakistan through military media.

India started Operation Sindoor on 7 May, in which the terrorist structures were targeted in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir under the retaliation of Pahalgam attack on 22 April, in which 26 civilians were killed. The exchange from across the border turned into a rapid phase of drones and missile attacks for four days, after which the two sides agreed on the ceasefire on 10 May.
Despite the refusal of New Delhi, Trump has been presenting himself as a major intermediary who “stopped a major war” in South Asia.
