16 people killed in blast at explosive material plant in Tennessee, USA: Sheriff

An explosion at an explosive material plant in a rural area of ​​Tennessee in the US killed 16 people and no one survived. The officers provided this information.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said the explosion Friday morning at a plant owned by Accurate Energetic Systems, a military explosives supplier, scattered debris over at least half a mile (800 meters) and was felt by residents more than 15 miles (24 kilometers) away. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.

Davis said 16 people were missing and no survivors were found during the rescue operation. In the footage of the incident site on Friday, smoke was visible above the factory situated on the hill.

There is only heaps of destroyed metal, burnt out car shells and debris. Davis described it as one of the worst scenes he had ever seen. He said officials are investigating the incident site.

According to the company’s website, it processes explosives and ammunition at a factory consisting of eight buildings spread over wooded hills in the Buxnort area, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) southwest of Nashville. Accurate Energetic Systems said in a post on social media Friday that its thoughts and prayers are with the affected families and the community.
