6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred near Samoa Island in South Pacific Ocean, no casualties

The earthquake was felt on Friday near Samoa Island, the country of the South Pacific Ocean, although there is no report of any casualties. The US Geological Survey reported that an earthquake occurred at a depth of 314 km south-west from the capital of Samoa, Aapia, at a depth of 314 km southwest.

In the news released on the ‘Samoa Observer’ news website, it was reported that an employee named Geratha Malifa said that there was no information about any damage or any injuries from the earthquake.

An email sent by Malifa stated that Samoa Weather Service has confirmed that there is no threat to tsunami. Samoa is located on “Ring of Fire”. Incidents of earthquake and volcanic eruptions are common in the “Ring of Fire” located in the Pacific Ocean.
