Firemen who were trying to control the fire in a mountainous area of Northern Idaho were ambushed by gunmen who died at least two people.
Idaho’s Governor Brad Little called it a “heinous” attack. The Kotenai County Sheriff Office said that the employees reached the spot after the fire broke out on ‘Canfield Mountain’ in the north north of Koyur de Ellen at around 1.30 pm and heard the sounds of bullets after about half an hour.
Sheriff Bob Noris said that the officials estimate that two people killed were firefighters. Noris said that he is not aware of whether anyone else was shot or not.
Noris said at a press conference, “We don’t know how many suspects are there and there is no information about the number of casualties.” Sheriff said that people are still coming down from the hill, so it is estimated that “there are still some people trapped there.”
