Bus going from Lima to Amazon in Peru overturned on highway in Andes, at least 18 people died

A bus going from Lima to Amazon area in Peru overturned on a highway at Andes ranges, killing at least 18 people and injuring 48 others. The authorities gave this information on Friday.

Cliffor Curipaco, Health Director of Junin, told reporters that ‘Expresso Molina Lidar International’, a ‘double-dekar’ bus of the company, slipped from the road in Palka district of Junin area and fell down from a slope.

Officials are investigating the cause of the accident. In the video aired on local television channels, just two parts are seen broken in two parts and the fire departments and policemen are seen trying to save the injured. Earlier on January 3, a bus fell into the river.

Six people were killed and 32 people were injured in the accident. A study conducted by the Attorney General Office found that driving by drivers is the main cause of accidents in Peru.
