Trump’s move is expected to adversely affect Indian professionals working in the US. According to the ‘New York Times’ news, an official of the White House said, “H1B visa fee increase may face legal challenges. But if this fee remains in force, companies appointing skilled international employees will have to pay US $ 1,00,000 every year for any employee working on this visa. This fee will only apply to new applicants. ”
An American official said on the condition of anonymity that the new visa fee will only apply to new applicants and will not have any impact on the existing visa holders who are still out of America.
The H-1B visa fee currently ranges from US $ 2,000 to US $ 5,000 depending on the size and other cost of the employer. These visas extremely popular among Indian professionals are valid for three years and can be renewed for more than three years.
Trump’s decision will have a profound impact on Indian professionals, which companies from other sector, including technology, appoint H1B visas. A few hours after Trump’s order to impose a huge fee of $ 1,00,000 on the H1B visa, there was panic, confusion and concern among Indians living on H1B visas in the US on Saturday.
