What to do if the shopkeeper does not give advantage of GST cut

The government said on Tuesday that if customers are not getting the benefit of GST rate cut, they can file their complaints on toll free number 1915 or through WhatsApp number 8800001915. The Central Indirect Taxes and Customs Board (CBIC) said in the often asked questions (FAQ) that the victim customers can call toll free number 1915 on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) or WhatsApp on 8800001915.

The CBIC said that complaints/questions can also be lodged on the Integrated Complaint Settlement System (INGRAM) portal. Under comprehensive reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST), it has been decided to do two slabs in place of four slabs. Now tax rates are five and 18 percent. The price of 99 percent of daily use items has come down as a result of improvements in GST.

The government is monitoring pricing and various companies themselves have come forward and said that they are giving benefits of GST cuts by reducing prices.
